Super Incuse Maple Leaf with Gold Layering

$199.00

2024 Royal Canadian Mint Super Incuse, Gold Layered, Reverse Frosted Maple Leaf Coin with First-Ever Maplehurst Pattern

Celebrating the 45th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf Series with this Special Coin

The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) astounded the world in 2021 with its first use of Super Incuse Mint technology. While incuse designs are actually sunk below the surface of a coin instead of rising above it, RCM has taken this technology to new heights—or rather, new depths—with its Super Incuse Maple series that boasts astonishing designs sunk 1.5 mm into the surface of the coin. That’s five times deeper than a “standard” incuse design! It’s so deep that it nearly hits the center of the coin, stopping just shy at 40% of the coin’s total thickness!

Never-Before-Seen Field Pattern

The Super Incuse Maple series returns in 2024 just in time to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf series and the coins include a spectacular new, never-before-seen field pattern that’s sure to “leaf” you breathless! This first-ever field pattern shows a dizzying array of small maples “bursting” out from the center designs on both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin. It’s as if a tremendous windstorm has blown up and sent Maples Leaves flying everywhere! Beautifully struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.99% silver, these $20 legal-tender coins have also been selectively plated in 24-karat gold to create an amazing contrast.

Iconic Walter Ott Design—With A Unique Quirk For 2024

The central design motif, of course, once again features the classic Sugar Maple Leaf design, unchanged since it was created by Walter Ott (1920–2022) more than four decades ago, yet now struck to super incuse depths. Due to an interesting quirk of Royal Canadian Mint’s transition to the new King Charles III effigy, these coins will be the only Walter Ott-designed maples issued in 2024 to display the effigy of late Queen Elizabeth II! These coins have also been struck as Reverse Proofs, a unique finish that really emphasizes its contrasting detail. Different from a regular proof coin that features frosted details rising over mirror-like fields, Reverse Proof coins have mirror-like details rising over frosted fields.
