A Rare Collaboration Between The Royal Mint and the U.S. Mint

For the First Time Chief Engravers from Two Mints Join Forces to Create Britannia & Liberty!

What you have here is the second-ever collaboration between The Royal Mint and the U.S. Mint, and the FIRST TIME that a Chief Engraver from The Royal Mint and the U.S. Mint have collaborated together on one design.

A Historic Collaboration Between Chief Engravers of Two of the World’s Largest and Oldest Mints

The United States and the United Kingdom have long shared a close relationship, based on common values and ideals. In this project, these two historic Mints have come together in a groundbreaking creative partnership, featuring the talent and skills of each mint’s Chief Engraver to produce a single design that features both Britannia and Liberty. The United States Mint Chief Engraver, Joseph F. Menna, and The Royal Mint Chief Engraver, Gordon Summers, have created a stunning design, celebrating the harmony of the figures while giving each equal prominence in the design.

Spectacular Britannia and Liberty Design

The collaborative design highlights Britannia and Liberty, two historical themes featured on many coins over the years, but never together on one unified design. Britannia with her helmet & Trident at the top and Lady Liberty with the stars in her hair, holding the Liberty torch right below her. The torch and the trident unite the elements of fire and water adding to the duality of the design and shows the unique nature of our alliance and friendship.

The obverse, by designer Martin Jennings, features the first definitive portrait of King Charles III, personally approved by the King.
