1741–1759 PILLAR DOLLAR HOARD — OVER 260 YEARS HIDDEN 💰

     Imagine holding a coin that predates the American Revolution… a coin that was hidden away for centuries, and only recently rediscovered.

    These Pillar Dollar 8 Reales were minted between 1741 and 1759, decades before the Revolutionary War. Recently discovered during a historic excavation/renovation project, a hoard of just 350 coins was found either buried in the ground or concealed in a wall, where they remained hidden for over 260 years. The exact location cannot yet be confirmed, perpetuating this historical mystery.

    The hoard is remarkably fresh. Each coin has been certified by NGC and designated excavation recovery UNCIRCULATED, an incredible level of preservation for coins that spent centuries hidden away. This is impressive because Pillar 8 Reales were well trusted in the colonies and were garnered legal tender status until 1857. The are America’s first Silver Dollar in circulation. They were heavily circulated and many are beyond well-worn today. Uncirculated Pillar Dollars like these are unheard of.
