Obverse: Featuring on the obverse is the traditional Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which first appeared on the half dollar of the same name. Draped in the American flag, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches as the morning sun begins to rise. Obverse inscriptions note her name, “LIBERTY,” the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2021.” Adolph Weinman was a sculptor and designed two of the most important coins in American history, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. His sculptural work continues to be displayed in numerous American cities.

Reverse: Emily Damstra’s new reverse design was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. An eagle spreads its wings while preparing to land with an oak branch in its talons. Inscriptions along the rim are the same as on the Type 1 coin, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” Just inside these inscriptions is the motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
